Wine Tasting!!

Rachel was superb in recommending and tasting wine. She was excellent in identifying and describing the tastes with different wines.

There were many wonderful wines to try. These wines are some of the favorites where Elizabeth and Dennis are wine club members.

Rachel graciously allowed me to photograph her next to this unique statue. Look closely and it can be seen that the limbs have joints and the arms can be moved. I have never before seen a statue there the arms were movable.

I thought it would be quite interesting to share a bottle of wine with this gentleman.

It is amazing how long ago Santa Barbara was an important community.

The Spanish influence in Santa Barbara has existed for a very long time!!

Wineries and Fruit Stands

Today was a day of unplanned discoveries. We started by going to one winery and had so much fun enjoying a flight of wine samples that we had to try a few more.

Along the way we discovered fruit stands with freshly picked strawberries and blueberries.

These fake fruits are placed out front to encourage drivers to stop. The real fruit is on the other side. Notice the sign.

We were amazed we could buy 3 packages of fresh strawberries for only $5

At a third location called Simonian Farms we bought more strawberries and also tried fruit wines like pomegranate, blackberry, mango, apricot, and plum. Ed really liked the blackberry so we bought a bottle. Charlene tasted and picked a bubbly Moscato D’Asti, an import from Italy. Now we have enough wine for at least a day.  😉
