We had a wonderful time snorkeling today!! John took these photos during our trip, as I left my camera back in our room. JoAnn and Charlene were excited to see our boat we were going to use!!Charlene took this photo of myself, John, and JoAnn with our boat!! It was fun to watch them back into the water to launch our boat!!We were getting situated with all our equipment and supplies on our boat. Sunscreen is important when on the water in Maui!! I needed to cover every inch not covered by clothing!!Sorry, we do not have any photos during our trip. Water and most cameras do like each other. John took this photo at the end of our snorkeling trip as we are worn out from stopping in 4 different locations. We love snorkeling in Maui!! I am so glad we signed up for the 5 hour trip!! Redline was an excellent company to work with!!John and I loved the opportunity to snorkel together. It has been 3 years since we have both been in Maui.This photo shows the two redline boats that we used today. It was such an incredible amount of fun!!
We began our evening taking a few photos to remember the gorgeous scenery!! JoAnn and Charlene loved having their photo taken with Molokini in the background.Charlene and I loved the luau location!!As we sat at our table, we had a great view of the ocean!! It was very special for JoAnn and Charlene to enjoy the luau and continue their celebration of 65 years of friendship!!John and Jan are the stars of the luau evening!!This woman was the master of ceremonies for our luau evening!!They brought the pig through the crowd to show us the meat that we would soon eat!!This woman was our first dancer of the evening! It was fun to watch her dance to Hawaiian songs!This was the band that provided the music for all the Hawaiian dances! They were terrific!!The sun drifted behind a cloud and provided our table with a spectacular scene!!As the sun was setting, these guys started the main dance festivities! They had terrific rhythm!!These ladies were very elegant with their Hawaiian dance moves!!The sun drifted lower and provided this last view as it fell below the ocean level. Hawaii is such a beautiful place!!These dancers were some of my favorites!! They certainly knew how to shift their hips!!As they danced, feathers were moving in all directions!!The guys were very talented and the woman performed a special Hawaiian dance!!These women were very fun to watch as they moved quickly and were swaying in many directions!! It would simply be impossible for me to move as they did!These guys were intense and moved with force and power! They were amazing to watch!!Our master of ceremonies was teaching us about the dance these women were performing! It was quite interesting to learn about the Hawaiian traditions!!It was fun to watch the men and women rotate their dance moves!These dancers were amazing to watch!!To our surprise, suddenly our master of ceremonies changes things up. She named people that were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and honeymoons. She also asked who in the audience had been married the longest? Our table started chanting “46,” “46” and caught the attention of the master of ceremonies. Yes, we have been married for 46 years. Out of 280 attendees at this luau, Charlene and I had been married the longest!! We certainly did not expect that everyone would be focused on us!! She asked me for one word that could lead to a long marriage. This photo shows her pointing to me. I replied “compassion” and many in the audience clapped, especially some women at a table in the back. She then asked Charlene for advice to have a long marriage, and Charlene replied that “marriage is a blessing for those that are willing to work for it.” Charlene’s statement also received many people clapping for her excellent advice.After celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and marriage advice, this woman danced this special slow dance! It was amazing to watch her sway with the music.These guys were an energetic group and really got things moving!These ladies were some of my most favorite dancers!! It was simply beautiful to watch them move to the Hawaiian songs. They were truly special.The combination of these men along with the ladies was very fun to watch!!After a warning to the audience, these two guys started dancing with fire!! I certainly did not want to mess around with lighted torches moving around and being tossed to each other. I have a very healthy respect for fire!!These guys were extremely talented! It was so impressive to watch them move with lighted torches!!The next thing I knew was that suddenly, these guys where lying down and had lighted torches held by the inside of their knees!! I have no idea how they learned to to that without burning themselves!!To close out the dancing, the master of ceremonies brought out some of the key dancers so we could thank them!! These are certainly very talented people!!After the dancing was over, this woman was very gracious to me and allowed me to photograph her using a flash. She was very kind and said “awesome” when I showed her the photo on the back of my camera. I really enjoyed this evenings festivities!!
John, Jan, JoAnn, Charlene and myself had a superb meal at Moma’s Fish House!! It was one of the finest meals we have ever eaten!!The restaurant setting was spectacular and the weather was wonderful!!The view of the ocean was spectacular!!Charlene and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Mama’s Fish House!! It has been 3 years since our last visit.We started our meal with something quite unique!! We ate Crispy Fish Collars!! The meat was tender and cooked perfectly. The fins were edible, like eating chips! It was extraordinary!Our second appetizer was Macadamia Nut Crab Cakes with caviar on top!! They were exquisite!! Charlene’s main course was Tristan Island Lobster!! These were from the most remote inhabited island in the world!! It is a 6-day ship ride from Cape town, South Africa. They were amazing!!My main course was Hawaiian Kanpachi with crab and lobster in a Macadamia nut crust that was caught off the coast of Kailua-Kona. It is their most popular menu item and was simply superb!!Our dessert was a Polynesian Black Pearl. It is described as Hawaiian chocolate mousse in a seashell tuile. It was one of the most wonderful desserts we have ever eaten in our lives!!Our meal was a special way to celebrate Charlene, John, and JoAnn all having important birthdays!!We thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous flowers around the restaurant!!These delicate orchids were beautiful!!As we were leaving the restaurant, this friendly guy greeted us!!JoAnn and Charlene were celebrating more than 65 years of friendship in Maui!!After enjoying our meal, we drove a short distance to Ho’okipa beach to see these amazing turtles! These green sea turtles basked in the late afternoon sun!It was amazing to see so many turtles in one place enjoying a beautiful day!!Charlene and John were happily waving from the upper level of Ho’okipa beach park!!
Charlene and I absolutely love Kaanapali!! It is about an hour north of where we are staying. It was a spectacular sunny day and the ocean was beautiful! It is fun to “people watch” and enjoy the beautiful scenery!!Maui is such a gorgeous island!! It is so peaceful to watch the ocean waves!!For me, this was the first time I have ever seen a publicly available sunscreen dispenser! With the intense sun in Hawaii, it is certainly needed and appreciated!We had a great time visiting a glass Christmas ornament store. John bought this colorful Christmas ornament.This was one of my favorite Christmas ornaments!!I also really enjoyed this Hawaiian pineapple Christmas ornament!!I became infatuated with this series of turtle Christmas ornaments!!Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed this whale Christmas ornament!!
We absolutely love visiting Maui!! It is such a beautiful island!!I love plumeria flowers!! They are some of my most favorite flowers in Hawaii!!Charlene and JoAnn decided to go for a zipline adventure!! Here they are climbing the staircase to begin their adventure!!JoAnn is smiling from ear to ear as she started gliding down the cable!!Charlene is getting all hooked up to the cable to begin her ride!!And Charlene is off and sliding!!This interesting spider was enjoying a cloudy day!! It is interesting to see the zigzag web hanging from the spider!!What would Hawaii be without the roosters running around all over town??We enjoyed visiting a pineapple farm!! These are great pineapples!!I thought this t-shirt in the pineapple giftshop was fun!A hurricane passed by Hawaii a few days ago and it caused quite a bit of damage to the shoreline near where we are staying. Charlene is looking out at the damage to the coast. Formerly, it was possible to walk right down to the beach. Now there is significant erosion along the beach and it is not possible to get to the beach.
It is illegal to touch the turtles in Hawaii, so Charlene posed with this turtle and stayed at a safe distance to keep the turtle comfortable.It is fun to watch the powerful force of the water on the beach!!This is a popular area for people to enjoy the waves!!It is beautiful to see the contrasting colors of the lava rock, the waves, and the water!!The waves and lava rock are beautiful!!Many sea turtles enjoy the beach too!!For me, this is the largest number of sea turtles I have seen in one place!!This relaxed guy seemed to enjoy having his photo taken!!I loved the ruggedness of these sections of the beach!!Charlene is celebrating life on the beach!!I love the colors of Maui!!Just after this photo was taken, Charlene received a cooling shower!!I really liked the colors of this fence that was made up of old surfboards!!This describes many of the feelings in Hawaii!!
John and I went on a walk to enjoy the cool temperatures along the beach. We say some people looking down and discovered that they were watching these two large turtles!!The turtles were enjoying the day and soon after this photo they moved back into the water.We found this Aloha in the shape of a heart. I think a romantic person wanted to say hello.
Janie, Charlene, Neal, John, Sis, and myself had a wonderful helicopter tour over several islands!!
Hawaii is simply beautiful! There is no other way to say it. One view is more gorgeous than the next. It is an amazing treasure. It was wonderful to share the helicopter ride with such wonderful people. The sites were spectacular!!
The colors were amazing!!The rock is supposed to be an elephant laying down. Maybe use your imagination??Helicopter views are amazing!!Gorgeous waterfalls!!Vibrant green valleys!!The coastlines are amazing!!This was my favorite waterfall!!The green foliage and blue water are spectacular!!The ruggedness and beauty are amazing to see!!The rich greenery is gorgeous!!I loved how the sun broke through the clouds to shine brightly on this one spot!!Mountainsides of intense green!!Turn in a slightly different direction and there is another amazing view!!Steep and green cliffs!!It is difficult to capture the beauty with a camera!!It was fun to fly over these mountains in a helicopter!! They seemed quite high to me, but our pilot Christina guided over them with no problem!!Coming down on the other side you could see the reefs in different colors near the land.The water colors with the different depths of the reefs were spectacular!!It was fun to see where a past lava flow ended as it reached the water!!The island of Maui is so amazing and beautiful!!I love to see the contrasting colors along the water’s edge!!Beautiful Maui!!I simply stare at the amazing places in Maui!!It is fun to end the series of photos from our helicopter ride with this silly rooster. I have forgotten how there are chickens and roosters walking all over Maui. This fellow was walking along the parking lot of the helipad and he stopped to say hello.
John, Charlene, and I had a fantastic day snorkeling all around Maui!!John and Charlene are finding all kinds of fish!This is my attempt at an underwater selfie!!Charlene is saying hello under water!!A very special highlight was saying hello to this friendly sea turtle!!All the fish were simply amazing!!These cute fish were at Molokini!!The coral was beautiful!There were so many things to see!!While traveling between snorkeling locations, we needed to wear our masks because there was so much spray of water!! Fun times!!The satisfied look of a great day of snorkeling in Maui!!
Charlene and I thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic Polynesian Luau!!It was great to enjoy the luau with Sis, Neal, Janie, and John!!Charlene, John, and I wanted this photo because Molokini is in the background where we will go snorkeling tomorrow!!These were the musicians for the luau. They were great!!The dancers were very talented!!Amazing dancers!The next dance was more amazing than the previous one!!This was one of my favorite dances. Very colorful!Amazing talent!These ladies were amazing!!There is no way I could swing my hips as done in this dance!!Elegant and powerful!!These ladies really, really moved their hips in this dance!!Powerful!!Beautiful and graceful!Do not mess around with these warriors!!These guys were very serious playing with fire!! This amazing dance was the close of the luau.
